WHAT ARE SOM SHOES FOR?
If you're familiar with the SOM story, you know that Sense Of Motion Footwear was born because founder and avid runner Olie Marchal was experiencing back pain in his everyday life. Olie discovered that his footwear was the problem, so he set out to make his own pair of perfect shoes, here in America, that would allow his foot to function naturally as if you were barefoot.
SOM Footwear currently falls into the category of "casual sneakers," but we like to tell anyone who asks that they are great for any activity that you would be comfortable doing barefoot. Whether it be running, biking, hiking, dancing, Crossfit, street performing, parkour, traveling, working, walking the dog, running errands or spending a night on the town, SOM Footwear is your go-to shoe!
DO YOU MAKE SHOES FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN?
Yes, all of our shoes are unisex and gender neutral. They are meant to be worn by both men and women. You’ll see both men’s and women’s sizing listed when ordering.
WHAT IS YOUR EXCHANGE/RETURN POLICY?
We want your feet to be happy in the right shoe. We offer free and easy exchanges and returns as part of our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are looking to exchange or return your shoes, we provide the return shipping label and take care of things from there! You are welcome to return your SOMs for a full refund if the shoes are in the original, unused condition and the return is made within 30 days from the purchase date. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT SIZE I AM?
Our sneakers are true to American standard sizes. We have a standard fit in the heel with a wide, roomy toe box. We generally suggest ordering your usual size. Our shoes are unisex, though we use men’s sizing. For women’s sizes, simply add 1.5 to the men’s size (ex: a men’s 5 is a women’s 6.5). To help keep the math to a minimum, we list both men’s and women’s sizes on our sneakers.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH MODEL WILL BEST SUIT MY NEEDS?

We continually release new models and colors, including ones for more formal and more active wear as well as limited edition patterns. Keep your eyes peeled for new looks!
HOW DO I GET THE REPEAT CUSTOMER DISCOUNT?
Our repeat customers currently enjoy free domestic shipping on all purchases as well as a $5 discount off a full priced shoe purchase. These discounts are applied manually, so they won’t show up when you make your order. Be sure to remind us in the notes that you are a repeat customer and we’ll take it from there!

ARE SOMS VEGAN?
Yes, our 2017 models are vegan! For more information on the materials used for each model, see our product specifications.
HOW DO SOMs HOLD UP OVER TIME?
We are committed to providing high-quality footwear to our customers and test every model in the rugged Rocky Mountains (our backyard!). We use durable materials for our uppers and offer resoling when the tread starts to wear to extend the life of SOMs even further.

HOW DO I WASH MY SOMS?
Easy! Simply toss your shoes in the wash machine on the normal setting with cold water and soft soap. Let them dry in the shade. For the all-leather SP-L3 Classic, we recommend hand washing.
I'VE HAD MY SOMs FOR A WHILE NOW AND THE SOLE IS STARTING TO WEAR OUT. CAN YOU RESOLE THEM?
We are proud to offer resoling to our customers! Please email us a picture of your soles at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will confirm if they are ready to be resoled (it is very difficult to resole if there are any holes). Then, add "Resoling" to your cart from our shop to begin the process. WHAT IS THE SOM CASH-BACK REFERRAL PROGRAM?
We don't have much of a sales staff since we are busy handcrafting your shoes, so we need your help! If you love your SOMs, tell your family, friends, neighbors, mail carrier, dog groomer and anyone else you meet about SOM! When you purchase your own pair, you will set up an account on our website. SOM sneakers are currently available at the following locations- Jagged Edge in Telluride, Colorado. We also have an outlet store attached to our factory in Montrose, CO that is open to the public most Thursdays from noon-6pm. We are located at 1006 N. Cascade Ave. in beautiful Montrose, CO.
